Aquarium Filtration System

(Pressurized Rotating Biological Contactor)

The first pressurized, totally enclosed wet/dry bio-filter that requires no sump for operation.  This system eliminates the problem of overfilled open sump systems ruining expensive carpet or flooring and causing water damage.

The principle of the rotating biological contactor has been taken a step further by adding 3-5 PSI air pressure within the canister.  Millions of deposit sites for beneficial bacteria are provided on a spinning vertical array that can accept 200-800 gallons/hour in flow from pumps in most aquarium systems.  Flow is adjustable for large pump systems by means of a valved shunt bypass system.

This filter requires no maintenance.  The longer it runs, the more effective it becomes.  An air pump provides the air pressure essential for operation of this filter.  The filter will occupy approximately a 12” x 12” x 12” space below, above or remote from your aquarium.  The only hook-up required is a 1/2” PVC pipe or flex tubing in the return line from your water pump.

This filter was originally designed and tested by Oceanariums for the high bio-mass demand of lobster tanks in supermarkets and restaurants.  Fully biologically cultured, with proper flow, one filter will support up to 200 pounds of lobster in holding conditions.  As you can see, it has the capability of handling large systems.  Its trouble free, safe operation makes this filter perfect for both home and commercial systems.
